The Confederate Soldier's Home was established in Atlanta around the end of the nineteenth century. The home was built as an expression of gratitude to veterans of the Confederate Army during the Civil War (1861-1865). The original home was destroyed by fire in 1901, but the home was rebuilt at the same location due to the generosity of various individuals and organizations.
