Blair Family Collection, 1914-1950
Content Description
The Blair Family Collection consists of scrapbooks, papers, and photographs pertaining mainly to the 1940s, while L.M. (Rip) Blair was mayor of Marietta, Georgia, and the Bell Aircraft Company was transforming the local economy and culture. The collection also includes a number of blueprints for public projects in Marietta and Fair Oaks from 1938 to 1941.

The collection is open for research.
Archival materials may contain sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state “right to privacy” laws. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals without the consent of those individuals may have legal cause for action if facts concerning an individual’s private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person.

However, privacy protected information may be revealed during use of the archival collections, particularly in those collections that are unprocessed or have been minimally processed.

Researchers agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kennesaw State University and its officers, employees, and agents from and against all suits, claims, actions, and expenses arising out of use of archival collections held by the Kennesaw State University Archives.

Biographical
Leon McKenzie "Rip" Blair served as mayor of Marietta from 1938 to 1947. He was significantly involved in the efforts to bring the Bell Aircraft plant and an airport to Marietta, and in infrastructural improvements to the city such as roads and public housing.

Other Descriptive Information
Merchants and Farmers Bank, Marietta, Georgia, Minutes, Directors and Stockholders Meeting Book and the Ryman Motors Accounting Book were housed in the Bentley Rare Book Gallery until May 2013. On May 23, 2013, these volumes were transferred to the Archives and housed with the Blair collection.
