Bobbie Bailey Collection, 1948-2016

Abstract Mary Bobbie Bailey was born in Roanoke, Alabama, in 1928. She was a successful entrepreneur who founded what would become the largest remanufacturer of air-conditioning and refrigeration compressors, Our-Way, Inc., and also launched music labels and produced music-related events. She helped retrieve a World War II fighter plane buried deep in the glaciers of Greenland with the design of special equipment by her company, Our-Way, Inc., and raised funds to bring the 1996 Olympics to Atlanta....

William P. Bingham survey map collection

Content Description

This collection consists of approximately 1350 maps showing land surveys conducted in Northwest Georgia between 1952 and 1996. The surveys were conducted primarily in DeKalb and Fulton Counties, but the collection also includes surveys from Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Murray, Newton, and Rockdale Counties. Surveys were conducted by William P. Bingham and Ansel J. Poe.

The Blair Family Collection consists of scrapbooks, papers, and photographs pertaining mainly to the 1940s, while L.M. (Rip) Blair was mayor of Marietta, Georgia, and the Bell Aircraft Company was transforming the local economy and culture. The collection also includes a number of blueprints for public projects in Marietta and Fair Oaks from 1938 to 1941.
